San Juan

We took this Kayak tour as a shore excursion from a cruise ship.  
It was not what we expected.  The shuttle to the place was depressing, not sure why but they took us through a real depressed part of town.  Garbage on the streets and beggar’s, did not set the stage very well.  They crowded us into a little hut for a safety talk, more of a sales pitch to buy stuff from their shop and I think the guide/presenter was stoned.  
You get in your kayak and they tell you to go wait by the sunk boat.  Nice huh!  it was a junkyard of old boats sunk by the docks and up and down the canal.  Then we work our way out through cypress trees ( kind of cool). When you reach an open bay, where you look up to the Island DUMP.  No Really!    I watched garbage trucks go up the hill and Bang…. The tailgates bang down as they dump the garbage.  
We finally reached the island and had Hermit Crab races. ( I really think the guides were all stoned)  Walked through brush and by another old boat,  Holes cut in it, real junk…  
If you are looking for a good snorkeling experience, this is not it.   The place you snorkel is not a crystal blue ocean. (we have been on man) it was a protected cove and more like a mud pond in the US.  Spend your money on a real snorkel adventure.  
They kayak part could have been alright but the guides hurry you along.  No leisurely paddle.  They pushed anyone to move up to the group and the leader set a pretty fast pace for people that do not do this every day.  
Then they try to sell you the pictures.   
Disappointed…

Took a Taxi to a nearby beach. 
was $20 to get there.  Had a bar on the beach and rented chairs. 
Great cheap day at the beach.

St. Lucia

This was fantastic.  Great group of people.  The crew was great and the whole day was fantastic.  The boat ride was fun we snorkeled over an old wrecked ship.  Fish everywhere and the water was warm and clear.  Then we got into the Rum punch.  Danced on the deck and walked the plank and had a great time swimming and swinging off the rope swing.  Best part of the Pirate Ship is the space to move around.  Dancing and parting all the way back to port.

This was not the case this time, but we did notice that Shrimp was not offered every night and there was not always a beef option on the menu.(No Shrimp  or Lobster).
