The Island Princess is for us a large ship. While we are much happier and comfortable on a ship with no more than 1500 passengers, Island princess did have adequate space for quiet lounging or reading. The crowded areas were the dining areas and bars, especially at Happy Hours

We have sailed the Panama Canal twice before so there were no surprises as to the canal passing or the ports. Our primary reason for choosing this particular cruise was to be with friends. To that end we were happy to be with them and Princess provided everything we needed to enjoy visiting with our friends.

We found the wait staff in the dinning rooms exceptional as they were attentive, had a great sense of humor and went beyond expectations to please their customers, however, if you are a Whole Food Plant based dieter (Vegan) the menu is not very friendly. There are various choices on each menu for vegetarians but they often included Butter, Milk or Cream and or Cheese (Not the choice for vegans).

Had all the basic needs. Shower is extremely small but adequate.

Disembarkation was a nightmare. Scheduled disembarkation was to begin at 8:00 AM but was delated more than an hour causing us to miss our flihgt. Princess blamed customs but customs said Princess had too many passengers leaving at once causing a bottleneck.

There were also a few minor complaints during the cruise that were eventually solved such as loud noises (hammer pounding on metal at 11:00 at night). We would have thought that Customer Service would at least sent us a letter apologizing for the inconvenience. As of this data we have heard nothing.
