Despite (a staff member told me) RC advising their staff 6 months earlier, my wife and I were told only AFTER paying our balancing payment that 25% of the four destinations were not be made. We were travelling UK to Australia for this cruise and to miss out on one destination out of four was a major blow. RC would make no exception to the 'it's in the small print' rule. Not even, perhaps, a complementary land trip or even a bottle of compensatory wine!!
We then endured, what as experienced cruisers we regarded, a second-rate cruise with the lowest quality of stage productions - even I recognised the poor standard of singing - and an entertainment team that could become quite rude (after, perhaps, a few drinks himself - according to another cruiser) with this one Canadian announcing most seriously his dislike for Americans and upsetting the few that were present. We witnessed what was clearly a lad having consumed far too much in the pool spa one evening and advising an officer (Michael somebody) only had my diagnostic credentials questioned rather than a quick check on the situation!
With so many guests including the hundreds of children, doubling-up in the cabins, the ships facilities were completely inadequate with over-loaded / inaccessible lifts and far to-crowded dining facilities.
Fine but it took three attempts to fix the televison!
The staff did not appear very happy in their work. When I queried this with one he responded in a very disillusioned way about Royal Caribbean, compared with his past employer.
