I had just cruised the previous month and per my usual routine when I return home, I immediately look for my next one!
This was my 10th cruise with NCL and 16th overall. It's still amazing to me that every cruise is different and how different they can be. This trip was no exception.
I flew into SJU for the first time ever and was happy with the airport, ease of embarkation at the Pan American dock (not the dock at Old San Juan), and the surprise escort to the ship by the hotel director. Bypassing all the usual photographers, slow lines, and endless ramps was very welcomed after waking up at 5am to fly. I haven't heard otherwise, but I guess this is the norm for a first time cruiser when they become platinum(?) Since I arrived only 5 hours before departure, I didn't have time to explore Old San Juan this trip like I would have preferred, but I've been there before and loved it.
The cabin was very spacious for one. It would have been ok for 2, but very cramped for 3 (the room had an unused pull down bed in the ceiling)
The bathroom is only comfortable for people under 5'5" and 130 lbs.
Average for Pan American embarkation port since it's a fairly long walk to go to town.
Excellent for Old San Juan port where ships stop.
I just walked around town and nothing there was really memorable.
An interesting mix of old world charm and island life. Be aware that French is the native language and English speaking is very rough.
Very nice island with impressive views of surrounding mountains and hills. Very photogenic island.
A nice stop that seems like a typical mainland beach town, until you see the cars driving on the left side.
