This trip came highly recommended by friends that had taken this trip on previous occasions under different ownership. This was a "bucket list" trip for us. Very disappointed. The only saving grace for the entire trip was the service staff. They were all excellent.
Food was only mediocre and many times served only warm. Coffee in the grill was served warm until we sent back for hot coffee two days in a row. With few exceptions, food was bland. NY steak served in main dining room was about 1/2 inch thick. I have seen better at Sizzler. (Side note: Asked for a Shrimp Cocktail appetizer in main restaurant and was told there would be an extra charge. Really???? at these prices. Shameful!!)
Main piano bar opens at 6 PM. This seems late to me, as some may wish to have a cocktail around 5PM which to me is "cocktail time". Don't know why there is a "Marina" advertised as the only use I was aware of was to check out snorkeling equipment. Rangiroa and Fakarava were less than exciting and probably added to make the cruise longer than seven days. Two days at Taha, (beach party), was over kill. Stayed on the ship the second time we stopped there. Extra charges for Wall Street Journal and WiFi. Again for a "luxury cruise" this seems odd.
Although we booked a "Butler" cabin, it appeared to be smaller than our experiences on Seabourn ships. We were told the ship was due to go into dry dock in the Spring. Really needs a refurbishment. Carpet in our cabin was worn and stained as was the upholstered chair. Air conditioning in our room was marginally acceptable. Set to the lowest setting for the entire trip and still warm in the afternoon. Our Butler was very pleasant and made us dinner reservations, but that was about the extent of the butler service.
