Sail Date: Dec 2016
Cabin: Owner's Suite

We just returned from the 6 night Western Caribbean. We chose this sailing because we were able to book an Owners Suite for a reasonable price. We are Diamond, so we would get many of the perx, such as priority boarding and Diamond lounge access, without the Suite, but we wanted to try a suite this time. It was a great experience.

Pros: our suite, 1348 was huge and very comfortable. The room and the balcony are equal to 3 regular rooms. Room had a living area, dining area and separate sleeping area. Bed was comfortable, and much larger than the Queen size the brochure says it is. As previously mentioned in other reviews, there are very few electric outlets. We brought some European converters so that we could use those outlets in addition to the US outlets. Bathroom is amazing, double sinks, shower and separate jacuzzi tub. We enjoy spending time in the room, and using our own balcony for sunbathing and relaxing. We had access, via room service, to the full dining room breakfast and lunch menus, and we had the Concierge Lounge across the hall. Unlike the Diamond lounge which was very crowded the two times we were there, the Concierge lounge, for Suite guests (not junior suite) was very enjoyable. (I believe that Diamond Plus and Pinnacle can also use this lounge). We had personal invitations for private tours of the galley, and the bridge, and Behind the scenes Studio B, personal escort by the concierge for priority access to the tender for Grand Cayman, and escort off the ship on the last morning. Suite guests have a reserved area for the shows and the ice show, although the shows were never too crowded. We had many freebies from our Diamond level, i.e. Photos, internet access, etc. which was a nice extra. We prebooked Any Time Dining, and had a very nice table for two each night, with excellent service. We even requested, and got the same table every night. Food was OK. We did send one entree back, and the staff quickly got us a different meal. Disappointed that lobster is no longer offered on any night as part of the regular menu, unless you order it for an additional charge.

Cons: Internet service was terrible. We got the basic Voom internet package, perhaps we should have gotten the one that supports streaming. We were disappointed with the Production shows. The ship singers and dancers were good, but the shows were not. We even left in the middle of one show, something we have never done before. Magician, comedians and Abba impressionist shows were enjoyable, as was the ice show. Based on the Cruise News, we thought the ice shows were only on two afternoon performances, so we went to an afternoon performance, only to discover that later in the cruise, the ice show was in the evening, and was the only show that evening, so we had no show to go to. Went to the casino instead, which is fun, but the smoke is horrible. Wish they would at least offer some smoke free times. It is overwhelming!

Cabin Review

Owner's Suite

Cabin OS

Amazing. This is the first time we have booked a Suite. I'm sure it is not the last.

I did notice the the room and balcony sizes for the Owners Suite category across the RCCL fleet varies greatly, so we will check sizes before we book in the future. Freedom and her sister ships are amoung the largest in this category.
