We took our first Royal Caribbean cruise December 4th on Freedom of the Seas. We have cruise on other lines (Celebrity, Holland America & Norwegian) but not Royal but were excited to cruise on Royal and try our first Caribbean cruise.

First off, I want to warn people that Royal does NOT allow power strips on their ship. They WILL confiscate it. I typically travel with one to charge all of our devices You get it back after the trip, but just leave it at home. I did bring (and was allowed to) bring in one Belkin 3-Outlet SurgePlus Mini Travel Swivel Charger Surge Protector with Dual USB Ports (2.1 AMP / 10 Watt), BST300 that I bought on Amazon.

The best part about the Freedom, hands down, is her crew. From the moment we came aboard, we were warmly welcomed. And for the next six days we felt the same wherever we were on the ship.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Our cabin was a D2 balcony -- 8650 towards the back of the ship. When we entered I was impressed with the size of the cabin. But the cabin was definitely showing its wear... The bathroom could use some modernization. The shower stall is pretty odd - and small. And the shower was a mess. Hot water the first night, and never again....

And while you are not typically on a cruise to watch tv the screen in the cabin is smaller than my computer monitor at work - which is pretty small. Come on Royal, spring for a larger screen!
