The Escape was our 4th NCL cruise in the last 3 years. We like NCL and the freestyle dining. 2 Tips, Book the cruise with the beverage package, because similar to other Cruise lines all the drink prices are now 11 to 15$. So even if you have only a few drinks a day you are still going to have a sizable bar tab at the end of the cruise. #2, don't be afraid of getting a room next to the elevators, we have found the rooms to be very quiet and its great to be able to get off the elevator and be right next to your room. #3. Bring a short multi plug extension cord and a longer one, 10 foot works good.
This ship is brand new, and was very nice. Loved the bathroom shower area, (we had a mini suite mid ship), it was good size and able to accommodate all our shower accessories. **NOTE, there is no plug in there for your hair dryer, so thats why its nice to have a 10 foot extension cord. The room steward brought us one so we were good, but they can't do that for everyone of course.
the bed's were comfortable and rooms were quiet. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, but we have always found that on NCL. Food was very good, although for this first time I ordered the 32 oz porterhouse at Cagney's, and it was not a good cut of meat. we always eat there and I wouldn't do that again. The other 3 i traveled with all had excellent meals here, so again I just got unlucky with that cut. Highly recommend Le Bistro and Teppanyaki. I thought the entertainment was not as good as some other ships. best show was the free Frankie Valli review, and we had a great time at the comedy club, we went to early family show and it just so happened that there was a lot of audience participation which really made it enjoyable. Their highly touted "AFTER MIDNIGHT" is a jazz review, and its, well not worth the price of admission, (yes its free and thats my point). its supposed to tell a story and well it really doesn't, its just a bunch of over dramatized singing that doesn't play to the audience well at all. after 45 minutes, the whole theater got up and left, without much applause. Normally you get standing ovations. And you will see that if you go to the Frankie Valli review.
Cabin was great, beds were good, no outlet in bathroom bring an extension cord for your hair dryer. could of used a little more storage, see the Epic's mini suites they had two large hanging closets.
