We chose this cruise mostly because San Francisco is so close to home. No flying! Embarkation was a breeze, and we were able to get into our stateroom right away. Our room was on deck 14, which we loved. Sail away was delayed a bit due to them loading carpet for the upcoming dry dock, so it was dark when we sailed under the Golden Gate.
We only ate two times in the dining room, but both times the service and food were very good. The Horizon Court was what we preferred for this trip, and we were very happy with the food quality and variety. The service was exceptional here! I must say, Princess has wonderful desserts compared to other lines. Everything we tried was delicious.
Entertainment was great. We always enjoy the comedians onboard, and they had a production show called Born to Dance that was outstanding. The casino was closed a lot of the time due to being in Hawaiian waters.
The cabin was as expected as far as size and layout, but it definitely needed some detailed cleaning and repair. There were signs of mold in the shower that was covered up with caulking and the shower curtain was in desperate need of replacing, as it had orange mold all along the bottom of the curtain. The first night we were kept awake by a balcony door that was in disrepair. That was corrected the next day. The shower temperature was never right. We had maintenance come twice to fix it, but had to settle for luke warm water the entire cruse. There was no adjusting the temperature at all. The bed was comfortable and the location was perfect. It was always quiet due to respectful neighbors. Again, hopefully during dry dock, these things will be taken care of.
Great terminal with wonderful views of the city.
We walked to the beach by the ship and had delicious fish tacos at Duke's restaurant for lunch. I highly recommend them. After lunch we strolled up the hill to the golf course for some wonderful views of the area. It would be nice if Princess included a golf excursion at this port since it is so close. We did a bit of shopping on our stroll back, then hopped on the shuttle back to the ship.
