On the Dream from 11/27 to 12/4/16. It was a good cruise, fun, but you can tell Carnival is taking costs out of the cruise, it shows. Our cabin steward came by only once per day however we told him not to show up until after 10 AM and he honored our wish. He did a great job on the cabin. The dining room staff took marvelous care of us, we had late dinner there were very few people there so they had time for us. It looks like three people are now taking care of what 4 used to handle.

The ship is in need of dry-dock and I understand it is due for a facelift in early 2017. Carpet was threadbare in spots and our balcony had more rust on it than we are used to seeing on our previous balcony staterooms.

We enjoyed the food in the main dining room and the Sea Day brunches. The lack of tablecloths in the MDR take away a little of the magic of cruise ship dining but we got used to it (part of the cost cutting I suppose).

Balcony

Cabin 8E

Clean, plenty of room, good location, not noisy. Only serviced once per day, but it can be sufficient if you are reasonable about it. Could be a problem if you are travelling with children but I was not (just wife and I).

Port Reviews

New Orleans

Easy to embark and disembark. Very friendly people. Be careful about your port arrival time. We arrived at 11 for a 12:00 check in and nearly could not find a parking space. We ended up on the roof with few spot selections.

Roatan

A pretty place to hang out and just walk around

Cozumel

Good shopping, good booze prices.
