t is not often that one can say that there is an experience that is of the highest quality but at an affordable price. However, the Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is such an example and exceeds expectations in all areas. We have just returned from New York on the trans-Atlantic voyage and cannot speak highly enough of the whole voyage from embarkation (quick and smooth) to disembarkation (ordered and civilised.)
In between we were fed, treated and pampered in a way that reflects a bygone era. The staff were pleasant, polite and respectful and couldn't do enough for you. (Sadly, they were not always treated in the same way by some of the passengers. )
We had an internal cabin that was more than adequate for the amount of time we spent there. It was immaculate and well maintained. We had large white fluffy towels, comfortable beds and the softest of pillows. The steward ensured that we returned each evening to a pristine room.
The cabin was fine and I have to say I had the best sleep ever. Maybe not having a window helped. There was enough wardrobe space to accommodate both mine and my husband's large number of clothes. (He brings more clothing than me). It is beautifully maintained and clean. No scuffs or marks anywhere. The shower and toilet are small but clean and adequate. I have had balcony cabins before but I am not sure they are necessary on winter transatlantic voyages. This was perfect.
We were treated well at border control and got through relatively quickly.
Again we only berthed here. But what was particularly helpful was that our son, who was meeting us, could drive the car right up to the port exit and we were able to load our bags easily.
