My husband and I are fairly experienced cruisers. We have been on 24 cruises, 15 of them on Royal Caribbean. This was our second cruise on Oasis, and we have been on Allure 4 times, so we know the big ships pretty well. Overall, the cruise was just OK. With the exception of our RCI sponsored excursion in Jamaica, which was horrible. The ship was clean, our room steward fantastic. But, as other cruisers on Oasis have mentioned, the food in the MDR was mediocre, and everything was served at room temperature. Not good when you enjoy soup! Most of the crew we encountered looked stressed, tired, and downright unhappy, including the entertainment staff. I had an encounter with a woman in Guest Services that was particularly hostile when I asked her a simple question on day 3 about the time frame to carry our luggage off the ship when disembarking. She looked annoyed and barked "It will be in the Cruise Compass". What?? When pressed, she finally told me the hours to carry your own luggage were 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM. How hard was that? Bright spots on the cruise were Sabor (the Mexican restaurant-delicious!), the diving show, Vintages for wine and tapas, and the ice show. Embarkation was a breeze, and debarkation was the fastest we have ever experienced. We were second in line for customs - a first for us! We will probably try either Celebrity (I know-RCI owns them) or a smaller RCI ship next time.
Our cabin was nicely laid out, with the bed near the slider. Bathroom was sufficient, but water coming out of the sink faucet was always warm (sometimes hot) and there was no water pressure. A new policy for us was that the refrigerator was empty. Now you have to order what you want in the fridge and they deliver it to your room. Plenty of storage, including room under the bed for suitcases.
We went to a private day resort.
Just went ashore.. barbeque lunch was excellent! TAKE WATER SHOES! Rocky beach and rocks in the water!
Nice efficient port.
