We booked the cruise about a month before departure. A quick get away with a chance to try the new ship. This ship had great quality entertainment including the best BBKing band we have experienced and a larger Lincoln Center ensemble. Entertainment venues seemed to switch off on times. Easy to walk from one to the other. Service was excellent on the ship. The covered pool area with the new loungers was nice - at the beginning of the cruise you could actually walk in and get one - after a few days I would walk through and notice most would be 'reserved - with a towel and other items' - irritating. Since my room was on the same floor - I could walk through and see the same one 'reserved' all day long and never see anyone actually using it. Hot Tubs could have been hotter for my taste - but never seemed to be full. If the top had been left closed it could get very muggy at the pool area. It seemed very easy to access tables in that area to eat food from the Market, Dive-In or Pizza/Deli areas.

Food selections were numerous although some specific items were harder to locate in the new Market set-up. Lots of choices of restaurants for dinner which would be nice on a longer cruise. Dutch Cafe is a nice addition. Sip and Savor was down to two nights and there were not as many cooking demos as in the past. Movie at the pool was set up nicely. The afternoon tea with the House Band in the Queens Lounge was a nice touch. The House Band was very good but could have been utilized more. We enjoyed the new showroom - very techie with nice performances.

The promenade has changed - I liked how one person commented it now seems like a maintenance deck - no lounge chairs - a few benches in case you do need to sit down - some areas very narrow to pass through - round a corner and you could run into someone walking the opposite direction. Directional signs might help?

Cabin Review

Verandah Spa Stateroom

Cabin VQ

Cabin was okay. Special features for Spa category included 4 complementary waters, bamboo mat in bathroom, 2 pedometers to use, a Bose speaker to use. Location was convenient and we only noticed a bit of movement during the sea days back at night. There were no added SPA discounts or deals for this category - I specifically asked in the SPA since it was sort of vague before the cruise what was included for this category. This has the key card lights/power activation. Be careful which outlets you plug in to charge when you are not in the room. Some of the room is only active when your key card is in the slot.

Port Reviews

Half Moon Cay

Half Moon Cay was pleasant.

Grand Turk

Weather was nice, snorkeled at beaches near the terminal.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Did a power snorkeling excursion - long drive in an open truck on the Hwy to get there. Probably would have been better if the water was clearer - dirty due to recent rains.
