This was our first cruise with Celebrity. We have done about a dozen other cruises so we are not "rookies" and think we are relatively normal (62, married, retired). The embarkation/debarkation was quite simple with no long lines. We used Celebrity's shuttle to/from the airport with no problems. We had an ocean view stateroom (3026). Pretty typical room--small bathroom. The ship holds 2000, but there were only 1200 of us on board so that may influence our perception.

MEALS--We had breakfast & lunch at the buffet line. There were plenty of choices--the waffle/pancake was way at the back and I'm sure some people never found it. Lunches had a variety--again pizza & panini lines were way at the back. Celebrity staff were very good about asking if they could help you find something. My wife liked the stir-fry. We ate all our evening meals in the main dining room. We chose the anytime option which worked well for us. The food was good (I enjoyed the beef wellington), deserts were a little limited in my opinion. The staff was good about making adjustments to the selections, if you didn't want the mashed potatoes for example. Service was what we have come to expect in main dining rooms. There were two "formal" nights. We appreciated that the dress code was upheld (no shorts/tank tops), made the meal seem a little more special.

ENTERTAINMENT--Two comedians, a magician, staff singer/dancer shows. We thought all the main theatre shows were very good. The different musical entertainment they had around the ship was a little lacking. The games hosted by the staff were usually pretty entertaining. Because we've apparently gotten old, I have no idea what happened after midnight.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 5

Cabin was typical. Our steward, Kadek, was excellent. He provided towels for each shore excursion, replaced the shampoo/conditioner, and asked daily if there was anything we needed. Celebrity does not provide a room with an iron. Kadek said he could send anything down to the laundry ($$). Since we don't spend much time in our room, it was fine.

Port Reviews

San Juan

If you sail on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, the port is a taxi ride to Old Town. If you sail on Carnival, the ship docks right below Old Town

Martinique

Guide was new and needed work. Sites were interesting.

St. Thomas

If you dock at Crown, consider going to Emerald Beach. It is just a 5 minute taxi ride to a beautiful beach. Some people said you could walk, I wouldn't recommend walking. The distance isn't bad, but there are no sidewalks and if you have every been to the Caribbean, people drive crazy.
