This is our 25th cruise. We have cruised in the past with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival and Holland. We took this cruise because of our previous positive experiences on the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam. We were also interested in the Music Walk venue and the ports of call. My wife and I are a young 60 something and enjoy a balance of relaxation and fun activities.

We will try to be fair with this review, however, if you are young at heart and want to have an exciting time on your cruise, you best look elsewhere. This was the longest 21 days we ever spent on a cruise and could not wait to get off the ship! Usually, we want more days and are sad when it is time to go home. This was not the case with the Koningsdam.

The Music Walk is a good idea that has failed miserable. Why? The schedule is all wrong for the time of year. You have to wait till 9:15PM before the only fun event starts. This was the BB King Blues Club. The band was great and was not appreciated by the majority of the older people on board. We are talking -OLD! And lots of wheel chairs and handicap scooters. And Rude! OMG! I have nothing against this demographic and we will all be there someday but the environment was very depressing and the "spirit" was sad and heavy. This is not what we want on our vacation. BORING! best describes this cruise ship. The decor is understated and lacks any character. The design of the ship is flawed in many ways. The lack of air and an open feeling cannot be dismissed. Stuffy and hot with no fresh air movement. It is no wonder why half the ship was sick with the flu.

Cabin Review

Standard Interior Stateroom

Cabin N

The cabin was a little smaller than normal but nicely appointed with ample storage. The bathroom was nice with a large shower and great water pressure. Bed comfort was so, so. Nice TV placement to view straight on from the bed. TV channels were limited and could be expanded.

Port Reviews

Grand Turk

This port used to be nice until the local vendors started junking up the beach. Trash and Horse Poop everywhere.

Too many umbrellas. Now you can barely see the ocean!

Half Moon Cay

Great Private Island. Just wish HAL would consider staying overnight here. Save fuel and skip Aruba and Amber Cove.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Fly Invested Island.

Bonaire

Nice beach.

Curacao

Nice port with local flavor

Aruba

Rained and flooded out.

St. Maarten

Nice boat ride and snorkeling area

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Nice beach and drive.

St. Thomas

nice beach
