Ten of us, including brother, daughter, granddaughters and spouses for a short weekend four-day getaway from NOLA to Cozumel. No problems checking in, boarding and going to our suite - quick and slick. After dropping our carry on's, went to Guy's Burgers for lunch and met some of our party. Good burger. Nice weather, had some drinks, socialized, had a nice dinner with all of our group (10) and finally turned in. I did my morning workout in the exercise room which is clean, well equipped, nice forward view and quiet - this was consistent throughout the cruise. The Lido breakfast buffet was crowded from opening to close - very unpleasant standing in line for mediocre food. I went to the taco bar for huevos rancheros, which were really good.
We ate in the dining room with our group 3 of the 4 evenings and found the food very good, especially the Steakhouse offerings for the extra $20. Good food, okay service - we could not get our adequate supply of bread and butter. The last sea day, we treated our daughter/spouse and granddaughter/spouse to the Chef's Table experience. Although this was our third time, we enjoyed it like the first.
Our entire crew had a great time that we will always remember - thank you to chef Ashok. Summary: 1) What happened to the robes that used to be in our rooms? 2) Why did the tablecloths on the dining room tables disappear on the third day? 3) Why is it difficult to contact room service or cabin steward for simple things like ice? 4) Why does it seem like our fellow passengers are extremely overweight and loading up their plates on the buffet? All in all, we had a nice cruise with our family, despite the service/amenity drop creep. As mentioned before, if were not for the family and fellow cruisers, my wife and I would not cruise with Carnival.
Okay - this is our 9th trip to a suite.
Went to our favorite jeweler at DI.
