Sail Date: Nov 2016
Cabin: Balcony

This was going to be our introduction to the New Carnival Vista, but after getting a great deal on the TA, this was our second trip. The embarkation was a mess in NYC. What I heard later was that 250 Travel agents were given the ROYAL treatment, before the die-hard Platinum & Diamond members were allowed on...Poor planning and poorer organized then even the mess in Barcelona (A story for another day). Once on ship we had a great Balcony room on deck 8, with an excellent pair of room stewards. Talked with our stewards from the TA and reintroduced ourselves to the entertainment FUN" staff. Matt & his crew (MarQ, No No, Cookie, Ashley, Eden, Sue, newcomer Emily[I know I'm missing some]) did a great job of having fun with us the next eleven days.

Music was amazing with the String Trio, Brass Trio, Rock Band with lead singer Chuck, DJ Bendz and the playlist singers and dancers lead by Brett. Food was very good but the Steakhouse reservations filled to quickly and we lost our chance. The ship's seats in the dining room, Limelite Lounge and Liquid Lounge with uncomfortable. The dining room's decor was not up to standards but I go there for a great dining experience, not the decor, and we were not disappointed there. The chef's put dinner after dinner on our table, delicious, well cooked to order, and wonderful meals, including some great desserts. Glad they switched back to the wonderfully tasty carrot cake of old. The ports were not our main reason because we had been at most at least 3 times each, except Bonaire. Next time we will take the shuttle to Klein Island and Snorkel all day but it was windy and we needed to do some shopping.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8C

Wonderful cabin, great views and warm afternoons spent on it reading and cruising. Octavio & Santoso, did a great job, they were helpful, friendly, effiecient and totally non-disruptive to our ins and outs, all times of the day and night.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

The embarkation was a real mess, poorly planned and poorly executed. I understand 250 Travel Agents were part of our Platinum/Diamond/FTTF group which was way to many for the beleaguered embarkation staff....This Platinum cruiser is unhappy with Carnival....

Grand Turk

Just went to Jack's shack for lunch and a beverage and then back to the beach to snorkel. Great snorkeling there. We actully saw a flounder and Octopus as well as many, many fish of multi-colors....

Just saw some sites and shopped...

Again to the beach, on the local #10 bus. We were tempted to go all the way up to the beach near the California Lighthouse but didn't. Next time we might even try Baby Beach...
