NCL and their Freestyle cruising was our favorite way to go. Not so much anymore. On the Getaway it seemed to be more like a constant ad and upsell. The TV automated interface kept putting envelopes in the picture indicating a message. ALL were ads for things on board, not an urgent message from home as expected. The dining room menus had items in the middle of the list that if you didn't look closely would have a price behind them. These were not grouped together where it was obvious but listed with the free options.

As Platinum members we received dinners for two at La Cuchina and Le Bistro. We also had dining credit from our TA so went to Tepanyaki. We wanted Cagneys but the only opening we could get was an 8:45 seating, a bit late for our tastes. The food? It was good but nothing to write home about. Like I have paid for dinner. The veal at La Cuchina was priced the same as a local Italian restaurant but was not as good. Why should I pay a premium? It seems we used to have comparable meals to the three we had in the main dining rooms and then they were paid for and not an upcharge. The Margaritaville was especially a joke. $10 for a burger and fries! I could get a burger at Sheehans free that was probably better based on other Margaritaville's we have been to.

Let's see, the website had problems when we were even just looking. Sent a message to web support and no change. Commented on it when we were checking how many cruise next's we had and was given a list of cruises and told not to trust the website. Balcony room was nice but had a couch inches in front of the closet making it very hard to get hanging clothes in and out.

Balcony Stateroom

As expected except for not being able to get to closet. Also needed power for a CPAP machine and had to run extension cord across the floor. Steward was going to duck tape it for safety but never did.

Port Reviews

Miami

Easy boarding after being in traffic for an hour trying to get to the parking.

Harvest Caye

Nothing good to say about this stop. Rather experience food from Belize over something from Jimmy Buffet. Dirty, cloudy water, bad beach, expensive stores, and more high priced things they wanted you to pay for.

Costa Maya

Love this stop as the malecon area of Mayahual is a gem that is not well advertised. The negative is for the unnecessary complications on getting there trying to escape the cruise port shopping and the hard sell from the "approved shuttles".

Cozumel

Love to go to the Money Bar for lunch and snorkeling. Did it, loved it. Wandered the port shopping when we returned.
