Just arrived back from our first P&O cruise. Sailed on Ventura 23 November. Overall we felt we received good value for money having booked fairly late and received a good price with generous onboard credit.
Embarkation efficiency was excellent and even though we were early we were on board within 20 minutes of arriving at the port. Disembarkation was equally efficient.
The cabin was clean and in good condition given the number of passengers to have used it before us. Had a problem with our shower day 2 which was resolved by changing the shower head. The showers were good with sufficient pressure and we never found a lack of hot water. Our steward was superb and always had a smile and a welcome greeting. We found many other staff onboard to be less engaging and some appeared, dare I say, somewhat miserable. Food was decent quality although little of low fat variety unless you were happy with ham salad and fruit each day.
Smaller than we were used to but we knew that when booking as went for standard balcony. Cabin was clean and in decent state of repair. Decor is rather bland. Bed supremely comfortable - slept longer than we normally do. Enough wardrobe space for two adults although would prefer a closing wardrobe. Little in the way of drawers but a tall shelved cupboard for t-shirts, jumpers, etc. That cupboard also houses the safe. Small dressing table area and two small drawers at each side of the bed. Hairdryer provided was powerful enough to dry long hair fairly quickly. Mini bar fridge with kettle, mugs &a sachets of tea, coffee & milk. Biscuits also provided and pillow chocolates each evening.
Biggest gripe with cabin was a very small TV with a very slow interactive system Not easy trying to find a film to watch as no synopsis without having to select each one individually (which wouldn't have been too much of a problem if the system were quicker). Not a brilliant selection of films/tv for a lazy sea day or early night but we managed to find something to watch.
