First, please note that we are not picky, and understand that sometimes things don't go as expected and that mistakes happen. Secondly, we are seasoned cruisers, with 10 cruises sailed on Carnival ships to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and Europe.
We boarded the Conquest for an 8 night cruise to Dominican, Bonaire, and Aruba. The problems started at the muster drill. There was an intoxicated guest who struck and cursed out both my wife and I. We immediately reported the matter to the muster station staff, and they witnessed the drunk's behavior. They did nothing. Didn't call security, didn't remove the drunk, nothing. They muster station personnel did not have control of the drunk or other people at the muster station, who rambled around at will pushing and maneuvering to the exit doors awaiting the end of the drill. It got so bad that my wife and I simply left the muster drill out of self-preservation. Immediately after the drill we reported the incident again to not only the muster station staff but also the uniformed officer supervising the drill. Wre were told to go to guest services and they would give us an onboard credit. An Onboad Credit??? Really??? What if this had been a genuine emergency at sea??? We twice again reported out complaint on two separate occasions and on two separate days. It was a complete waste of time as the guest services staff said that there was nothing that they could do except give us a store credit or drink credits. This is insane.
Then there was the room. We paid extra for a balcony stateroom. When we arrived at 2:00 PM we found the room dirty, with ripped fabric and recent "biological" stains. Oh and the door to the balcony would not unlock. No garbage cans. dirt and stains all over the carpet. We did not get the door lock fixed until day 6 of the cruise. We didn't get a garbage can until day 7. They replaced the ripped and stained fabric finally on day 6. We had the housekeeping supervisor inspect the room, and she also reported the deplorable conditions. Guest services offered us a bottle of wine on out last sea day as compensation. A Bottle of Wine????? Really???
Disasterous.
Not much there.
Nice place to visit. Not much time in port.
Nice, but expensive port.
