We booked this cruise very late and got an amazing last minute deal . We had been on the Connie only 2 cruises (see other review) prior to this one and had a great time. This was a different cruise in that it was a re-positioning cruise and so was primarily sea days (5 in a row at one point) whereas on our other cruise we had 6 port days in a row.
The main thing that did not change was the service, it would be understandable after so many sea days for the wait and bar staff to be exhausted but their service levels never wavered. So impressive.
Embarkation was quick and we quickly settled by the pool and had a great day waiting for the late departure.
Looked tired relative to our last cabin on 7. The entertainment system is a shocker. Bathroom had mould in it as exhaust fan did not work and could not be fixed. Large window . Good noise insulation. Very close to stairs and lifts.
We did have some strange insect bites one morning but after thorough investigation by us (and supposedly by house keeping) could not find anything to explain it.
Towels and sheets were often very worn and thin. Only given a single doona for a queen bed on day one???!!!!!
Visited Petra without guide, just got a car and driver. Did walk to place of high sacrifice and then around the back canyons. Amazing walk if you have time and stamina
As it was Friday many attractions were closed. Would have done more if it were any other day. We walked from port to old Muscat and palace along the corniche. 7 km each way. Nice small souk as well.
The grand mosque is amazing and a must visit. They have free tours at 10am, 11am and 5pm. We did the last one and it was very informative and beautiful at sunset.
