This was the first week of a “Back-To Back” cruise on the NCL Gem – November 6th then Nov 13, 2016. Our first cruise of this length. Did this as we would hit 11 ports during the cruise. Also in light of the high airfare from where we live. We did back to back. East coasters sure had us beat on airfare to San Juan.
Generally the ship looks good. Service mostly good.
EMABRKATION:
Having been in several mid-ship balcony cabins with NCL. I was immediately struck with how the built-in furniture was flipped from the entry with the balcony door area built-ins.. I asked my steward about this, and he replied it got flipped about a month ago.
The first two nights all was OK. The third night we had a crosswind. The ship was rolling some. We had creaking noises that was loud enough to be heard with earplugs in, and balcony door open. I determined it was coming from the flipped cabinets near the balcony door. I could not push on the piece by the door, and effect the noise. Reported to guest services, and to steward. No resolution of the issue. If ship had some roll, we had the creaking.
Also i thought cabin service was not up to norm. I asked our steward about his assistants. Replied NCL had stopped doing it.
