Unfortunately for Thomson my first cruise experience was on a sister ship to the Discovery but with Royal Caribbean earlier in the year. Had I not experienced their service, I may have been more generous with this review.

The service was not great, I obviously acknowledge how hard staff work, but 30 minutes wait for a drink sometimes round the pool makes me wonder how much they save with their drinks package over a week with their overloaded with ice drinks. Bar staff not very happy in their work it seems. Waiters too busy for the volume of people in the 47 restaurant and god only knows why they have a whole floor made into an Italian restaurant, on the sister ship, this was the upper floor of the same restaurant. 30 minute wait to get seated, but always seats in the Italian, that is far too overrated and the food was very salty, we only ate there once. Limited menu in 47 and when my partner asked to see the wine list on our first night as we did on Royal Caribbean, a not so very happy Eastern European waiter told him he could have red, white or rose, so not a good start. Food was only ever hot once, when I had the 'crab' thermidor, which turned out to be crap stick thermidor (I'm not lying).

Our room was kept tidy, nice girl Agnes cleaning for us. I have 'lost' my watch however, I have emailed Thomson to see if it will turn up, but somehow I doubt it. I cannot point fingers as we had a few cleaners on that floor and I only wore it once and assumed I would find it in my case when i got home, I didn't. Not overly expensive, but it was a present.
