Cabin: Aqua Class

My husband and I booked an Aqua Class balcony room for this trip. The ship was older but still quite nice and clean. The room was also very nice. Unfortunately, that's where the very nice ended. The food was fair at best and the staff seemed to be overworked and not able to keep up with the needs of the people. We actually felt sorry for them trying to keep up with the demand, unsuccessfully to spite their best efforts and without the first complaint. Obviously not enough staff in the buffet area when one person is responsible for carving meat and putting out deserts..... every day..not just a fill in for someone sick for a day. We felt bad for that poor girl. She worked her butt off but could not keep up. While on food, lets talk about the aqua class dining room that only those in aqua class can go to. We only used it once because we did not feel at all welcome there. Way too formal and stiff..servers were "working" didn't seem to care if we were there or not. The cookies in the afternoon were the highlight of the food for the cruise and the young woman serving them was really sweet.

Beware of the photo gallery. They ran a special at the beginning of the cruise offering unlimited pictures and the cd or maybe it was a flash drive of the pictures and the copyright for $249. We reserved it but when we went to check out the last day to pick up our pictures that we had been putting into our saved file, we were told we only got the pictures..no cd..no copyright. Thus, we purchased 2 pictures. They lost all that money, plus they shredded our pictures. The supervisor was also not interested in honoring their promise and was quite rude. Beware if you chose this to get it in writing. The pictures, however, were very good..too bad we didn't get to purchase them.

Now, for our biggest disappointment... our cabin steward. He was nice enough whenever we saw him, which was rarely and he turned the bed down every night and left the little candies on our pillow, but.... When we first got into our cabin on the first day, there was a nice Celebrity bag with some slippers for us on the bed. There was a pitcher with ice tea and I believe some fruit in the room waiting for us. Very good first impression. When I went into the bathroom, I thought it was really nice that they had given us a loofa type sponge in the shower. That lasted until I took it out of the shower to show my husband and realized that it was used... left from the last person. I guess he forgot to clean the bathroom? it goes down from there. The ice tea in our room sat there untouched long enough to get mold. I left him a note asking him to please change it out and he did. Only to let it sit there long enough to get moldy again. We were afraid to drink it after the first day because when he did replace new tea, he didn't clean the carafe. Obviously he didn't care . We never had ice in our room and we literally climbed down the back staircase a couple of times each day to get ice to take back to the room to keep the beer we purchased on ship cold. He really was pitiful. Most other cruises we have been on, we really enjoyed and appreciated our cabin stewards, this guy was pitiful enough that we cut the gratuities after nothing changed even after asking him repeatedly.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

Cabin was nice and large enough. Balcony was also nice. However, the bathroom had not been cleaned when we checked in and we found a used loofa type sponge in the shower. We really liked the location of the room as it is the last one on the starboard side with really easy access to the stairs and bar/dining area on next level down.
