The Norwegian Epic should be decommissioned and used as scrap metal, or recommissioned as a prison ship. The staff/crew should be retrained and taught what it means to be helpful, informative, courteous and professional. The designer of this ship needs to rethink his choice of profession. My advice, never, under any circumstances cruise on NCL's Epic and rethink any of your plans to travel on any NCL cruise.

This ship is poorly designed, does not accommodate its 4,000+ passengers at all. There are 2 main sets of elevators which are always crowded, do not go to all floors & wait time is ridiculous. Cabins are small, dark & unwelcoming with terrible designs for toilet, shower & sink, tiny pods with transparent doors providing no privacy. The specialty restaurants and main dining rooms provide a little more diversity, quality and better service than does the buffet. If water is your beverage of choice you will pay dearly for it on this ship. The one show we saw was very good, meal and service were the best of cruise. Never saw our cabin steward (Glen) until 3rd day of cruise and he was either incompetent or lazy. Most of the staff were unpleasant & seemed to have attitudes. Embarkation & disembarkation were nightmares, waited over 2 hrs in both cases, even though we had early reservations. Not enough time in most ports. No instruction as to time, or where to get on & off boat for ports. General lack of direction from Captain/ officers throughout cruise. Organization does not exist on this ship or with this crew. I have been on other cruises and have never seen so many unhappy/disappointed passengers with any cruise line. The frustration begins in Port Canaveral and gets worse as the week goes on culminating with any hopes of a merciful disembarkation at the end of this disaster.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony

Cabin B9

Horrible. Designer of this ship should have all his credentials revoked and he should be sent back to school. Cabin was small, dark and unwelcoming. Hated being in it. Thankfully we booked a balcony so we had someplace to go when we were there. The concept of separate pods with transparent doors for toilet and shower provided no privacy. They were small and noisy, could hear showers and toilets in use from adjoining cabins. Disgraceful. There was no room for storage, the lighting was the worst of anything I've experienced on a cruise ship of any cruise line.

Port Reviews

Tortola

We took the Magens bay excursion, Ceaser, our bus driver was pleasant and efficient and had quite the sense of humor. The beach was clean and quiet when we first arrived, although it got crowded as other cruise ships arrived. The water was that warm, beautiful turquoise color of the Carribbean and was perfectly clear. I just wish we had more time to spend there.
