Sail Date: Nov 2016

Embarkation: Arrived the day before. Took shuttle to pier from Doubletree, San Pedro. We arrived about 12:30 pm. The ship was not ready for boarding yet. By the time we checked in boarding had begun and went smoothly.

Ship: The Star is in need of refurbishment. Furniture is shabby and the beds definitely need updating. However, there are advantages to bring on a ship with fewer passengers. We also enjoy the promenade and Skywalkers. They are putting new carpeting down in the public areas on this voyage.

Stateroom: We were in a Vista suite. This was our first time in a suite. Our favorite part was the large balcony with nice teak furniture. It was lovely to sit out back over the wake. The balcony has an obstruction but we did not find that an issue. It is a bit crowded with the loungers. We had dinner out there several times when we finally realized we could order off the dining room menu. Furniture needed updating. Also, TV'S. Beds need new mattresses but I imagine the new Princess beds will be going in.
