We took this unique itinerary with Solstice coming back to Sydney from dry dock in Singapore. Singapore check in was a zoo. The ship was in very good condition. We chose a Celebrity Suite on the hump so we had a huge forward facing balcony. This was our first time in a suite and it was well worth the premium. It felt like a different cruise. The Michael's Club was always enjoyable and the bar was always open. Our butler seemed to only know the word yes. Our cabin steward kept everything in good order.
Luminae is like dining in a fine restaurant every meal. We had heard that the chefs for Luminae will make special dishes or off menu items if reasonably possible. That was surely the case for the few special requests we made. No hesitation, no delays.
Tendering off a large ship is just not practical. We had great weather in every tender port but Celebrity only tendered from one side of the ship therefore only two tenders at a time. As suite guests we got to jump the line getting off. Getting back on the ship we were in the same long, hot lines as our 2800 new best friends. And if you were unfortunate enough to get on a ships lifeboat you could bob around near the ship while the larger port based tenders moved to the front of the line to disembark passengers back to the ship. Time in port was too short.
Loved the CS on the hump. The suite needs some type of drape or blinds on the bedroom window. The lack of ability to darken the bedroom separately from the living area greatly diminishes the opportunity for one passenger to nap or sleep earlier from the other. Other than that the suite was great.
