The ship is showing it's age, but is still nice to sail on. The getting on was very smooth, our stateroom 7136 was ready on time and our attendant was very good. The standard of the food although very high has dipped below the usual R.C.I standard, we put this down to the cruiseline trying to get guests to choose to dine in the speciality dining rooms. We asked if the chef could cook a crepe suzette for dessert one evening, the waiter spoke to the head waiter who in turn spoke to the chef who did come to see my wife and I. we were shocked when he showed he did not know what crepe suzette was, when he asked what filling we wanted, indeed my wife had to tell him the ingredients and also how to cook it.
The waiter and assistant waiter were very pleasant but were hard pressed to take orders and bring the courses up in a timely manner, again the blame is with RCI this time cutting staff meaning the waiters had more tables to attend too. the cutting in staff was also evident on the pool deck with waiters few and far between. it led to line ups at the sky bar and pool bar to get drinks. The shore excursions we went on were good except one BEST OF SOUTH DOMINICA - BOIS COTLETTE AND SOUFRIERE SULFUR POOLS which included swimming in a bubbling sulpher pool but was in fact a bit of beach roped off and no hot bubbles coming up through the sand. In fact it was only when i pushed my hands under the sand did it feel hot.
all in all the cruise was great.
fixtures and fittings in good shape, sliding door easy to open and close, bed was comfortable. The toilet seat had to be tightened which was done as soon as it was pointed out
