Had a wonderful experience with RCI's Serenade Of The Seas in May 2005. 11 years down the road, decided to bring my extended family to the cruise covering Port Klang, Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand.

Day 1 - On embarkation, the lunch selections (buffet) at Deck 3 was horrifying. Thought I was on a refugee camp. Time for Main Seating dinner (early), the menu's selection were pretty limited; divided into Asian and Western. My wife entrée was a fried (buttered) fish (Pollock). One bite on the fish, my wife almost puke (had to hold back), the fish was so fishy. Informed waiter about it and was offered to change, decided to go for an Asian item, "Pad Thai". Another disaster dish, completely tasteless. Being a Thai National Dish, known worldwide, there were no taste of lime, sugar, fish sauce, peanut not to say chilli.

How can the chef put such an item on this route (Asia), knowing very well, the Asian are well accustomed to Thai dishes. My granddaughter (1 yr) was served a plain white porridge. Surely the chef had been well informed through my request for infant food to be served. We can see the caliber of chef RCI employed these days.
