This was my fifth Celebrity cruise, the third on Solstice. Embarkation in Singapore was a disaster - huge queues and no one really seemed to know which line was which. I'm not sure if that was a Celebrity thing or if it was because of Singapore customs.
Despite having had a multi multi million dollar refurbishment in Singapore right before we embarked it was hard to see. Sure, they have a movie screen on the grassed area on the top but it wasn't working for our cruise (a huge disappointment), there is a new Sushi bar on 5 which I didn't go to, the chairs in theatre and in some of the bars have been recovered but there are still signs of wear and tear which should have been addressed. The carpet is worn outside a lot of the lifts, the bedside tables and coffee tables in cabins are really starting to look bashed about, the veranda furniture needs a good oil or replacement.
That said, Celebrity's crew are wonderful, they simply cannot do enough to help you, the food is fantastic and the shows were great. I know lots of people have commented that the MDR portion size is smaller and it is, but you can always order four courses if you want. My son often ordered 2 entrees (because he couldn't decide) one main and a dessert. There was no shortage of food and the variety was great. We also went to all three speciality restaurants and they were spectacular.
This cabin was a completely obscured veranda cabin. It was quiet and our room steward was fantastic. We booked this a guaranteed cabin as that was all that was available at the time of booking. I was disappointed with the view although I knew it was obscured.
We just wondered around ourselves.
Singapore is a very clean and safe city with lots to do.
Bali is dirty and hot!!
