After many trips on Carnival, we wanted to try Norwegian again. It was our favorite cruise line before we had kids. The Breakaway was the easiest and newest ship for us leaving from NYC. We convinced some family to join us, because of the close departure. They usually travel form NJ on Royal Caribbean. Reading the reviews, I was a little nervous, but the big ship and close location already had us sold.

We left NYC on Marathon Sunday. Decided not to take the train and had someone drop us off. We arrived at the terminal around 10:00 and checked in easily. Waited until around 12 to get onto the ship. Tried to go to O'Shennan's for lunch, but there was already an hour wait. They tried to direct us to the buffet, but we went to lunch at one of the sit down restaurants instead. As we were finishing lunch, they called for the Muster Drill. We hadn't been to our room yet, but our card told us where to go, which was the same restaurant we had lunch in. I love Muster Drill on NCL, as you are inside and do not have to put on your life jacket.

Went to sign the kids up for the kid's club. This is the first time I ran into a long line. I had a feeling it was going to be a week of standing in line. I was wrong, except every time we tried to drop off the kids. The kids club has limited hours compared to Carnival and Princess. 10-12, 2-5 and 7-10. Usually my kids beg to go to the kids' club, but this time was different. Too many kids was the excuse. They did not want to go. This is one of the main reasons we cruise at least once a year. They have a great time and we can relax and know they are being cared for and having a good time. I think there were too many kids on this cruise, due to New Jersey having the week off of school.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BC

Cabin was tight, bathroom was great! Love the shower door instead of the curtain. Steward was great. Our relatives had a bad steward on the port side of the ship. Ours got a tip, their's did not.
