This was the maiden eastern Mediterranean voyage for the Solstice. Most of our feelings about the cruise were positive. The ship, being new, is beautiful. It's contemporary style is contrary to our own personal style, but we appreciated the design. Service was terrific. The main Grand Eperney dining room offered excellent food - better than the Princess and Regent cruises we had taken before. The cafe with the buffet stations had varied choices for breakfast and lunch however, the evening offerings, if opted instead of the main, were slim. Our main difficulty with the cruise was their handling of the shore excursions. Since this was their maiden voyage, I imagine that they will work out many of the kinks, but their handling of stickers and tenders (at Santorini) was abhorrent! The volcano/hot springs tour was a disappointment. The springs might be hot in summer but definitely not in May.Rhodes had been dropped as a port after we signed up for the cruise, which was disappointing. Embarkation went very smoothly but disembarking was a nighmare with difficulty finding luggage and getting a shuttle to the train station. This makes it sound as if we might not have enjoyed the cruise but we truly did and would recommend it to others.
Great cabin - larger bathroom than most and nice balcony. We just never got our bearings on the ship!
