Voyager of the Seas, 12 day South Pacific cruise (New Caledonia & Fiji) r/t from Sydney, superior balcony cabin, deck 9 forward, 3,700 passengers + 1,200 crew. About 80% of the passengers were Australian and about 30% were families with children. There were very few Asian and Eastern European guests. I am an avid cruiser, having taken 15+ cruises, in most regions of the world. I have sailed before on Carnival, Princess, Holland, Norwegian, Star and Costa. This is my first cruise on Royal Caribbean.

My overall impression is disappointed and would have to rate them at the bottom of the list above. The ship itself is modern and has very good deck plans. It was evident that RCL markets this ship as family friendly by the high number of children onboard (and not even a school holiday in Australia). There are many ship board activities and venues (rock climbing wall, ice skating, wave generator for surfing) designed specifically for children.

I will start with the pluses; our balcony room was well planned, comfortable, lots of storage space, comparable with most cruise lines and well insulated as we were never disturbed by corridor or adjacent room noise. The internet on the ship was very fast and a good value for unlimited use. The ship has excellent interactive information systems that can be accessed from your room TV or screens throughout the ship. All crew and service staff were friendly, well trained and would go out of they way to assist you. Lots of diverse ship board activities to keep you busy during sea days. Large casino, beautiful promenade with shopping promotions, excellent modern fitness center.
