We chose this cruise so we could get from Rome to Barcelona for a TA on the NCL Jade. It was a great bargain and we were lucky to have an aft cabin on the 13th floor. The cabin itself is poorly designed with a curved uncomfortable love seat, strange bathroom layout, and poor lighting. Because of this, we would not sail on the Epic again. It seems NCL has cramped as many cabins as possible onto this ship, leaving you with a boxed in feeling. There are hardly any public seating areas where you can just sit and look outside. Public bathrooms are difficult to find with little or no signage. The cafe was a chaotic place for meals, although the main dining rooms were comfortable. Our cabin steward, Greg, was excellent and we enjoyed our guaranteed cabin becoming an aft. However, being on the 14th floor was too close to late night music above on the upper floors. One night the music lasted until 2 am and the bass was vibrating in our cabin. I called to complain as the music was to end at 1 am and was told it was now 2 am. The front desk sent security to have them lower the music which they did for about 10 minutes and then back to full volume. This is a ship for young people...not one for us. Happy we tried it but never again.
We did not like the layout but loved the aft balcony. The bathroom layout was not comfortable for us as the shower water poured over to the outside floor. Uncomfortable seating on curved couch...which took up much cabin space. The curved walls made everything seem tight...not spacious for a balcony cabin. Plenty of storage space. Horrible lighting. Would never want to be in an inside cabin on the Epic.
Lovely setting...tender service provided...can walk from tender into town
Take a cab into city center...old port town
