This was a charter. I choose it for the entertainment, which was mostly amazing, but not provided by the cruise line. But after hearing three times in just the first day that standard offerings on the ship would not be provided because this was a charter I'd had it. The charter coordinators assured me that should not be the case. Some examples: 4 of 5 nights, the phone in my suite did not work for calling the front desk. The malfunction, I was told, was with the front desk phone and other passengers were struggling with it too but it wasn't addressed until the end of the cruise. My internet code was invalid. After reporting it three times over the course of five hours and being assured that the system just hadn't finished "rolling", I was then told that IT had gone to bed and nothing could be done until after 9am. At 9am, I was told the Revenue Manager would have to address it and he was busy in a meeting and couldn't do anything until later. On day three, I was in the shower with conditioner in my hair when the hot water stopped. I reported it but it remained off for 40 minutes with no explanation or apology.

The public areas and elevators reeked of cigarette smoke. The public bathrooms were not kept clean and stocked. My room had that smell of having hosted a previous smoker and then been deep cleaned, which doesn't actually fix the problem. One of the two mattresses was completely worn out; I slept on the other side of the bed. In general, paint, carpet and other elements of public areas were not well maintained. To get a decent meal, one has to upgrade to the specialty restaurants. I think most travelers are so drunk or smoke so heavily they can't tell how bad the food is, though if you're a Taco Bell or McDonald's regular you might like it. Veggies were horribly overcooked and mushy. Meats were dried out and lukewarm, probably sitting under heat lamps for an extended time. The Indian dishes were best, but I kept being told they weren't available or were all gone, like being in the back of the economy section of a low cost airline. Croissants were good, bagels were cardboard, other sweets were flavorless. The nonalcoholic beverage package, they don't tell you, includes only fresh orange juice (not fresh juices plural) and only small bottles of water which they kept running out of, and only one tiny bottle of sparkling water per day. The tea I wanted was routinely unavailable though the box was visible.

The activities, like the climbing wall, were seldom available and other activities non existent. Horrible movies in a tiny theater. Gym equipment was decently maintained but the weight machines are old and the padding is pretty thin. I will never cruise with them again. Not the right cruise line in terms of service, attitude, cleanliness and food quality for me.
