We are very disappointed with the vacation; the selection of food was horrible and left much to be desired. The food was really, really bad at the buffet. Other than the worn out and basic offerings like, pizza, fast food and sandwiches, there was only salad, pasta, chicken and lamb every day – no roast beef, prime rib, pork chops or ham on the bone or any other kind of quality beef..UGH! They did have minute steaks but were mostly fat and gristle. The executive chef should reconsider and compare this food to other cruise lines, I dare say Carnival and NCL. Most of the food in their buffet was in crock-pots so this made for a unappealing presentation. We tried breakfast at the buffet one morning and were confused because the eggs looked like macaroni and cheese. Thank goodness for Blu - I just wish that their menu selection was not so limited. Dave was the jewel in Blu last year and was painfully missed this year. Jolanta, Antonio and Rolando in Blue were the jewels this year. We did not eat in the main dining room so we cannot comment on their menu.

Entertainment was basically nonexistent, difficult to find and most really boring. Ship is looking worn out with dirty and stained carpeting. The bars also looked tired and at times very smelly. We were on the 11th deck and the age showed drastically. Not the premium vacation they claimed and we hoped for. I put down on our reservation that we were celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary and no special attention was given (like the previous year with the cake and champagne). I didn't realize that Celebrity does not even give return guests a special reception, like other cruise lines. Captain Kate and her officers are to be commended for their dedication to their guests - they walk throughout the ship with a smile and always greet you and stop to chat.

Sadly however, I cancelled our cruise on the Summit for next year and will rebook with NCL since our cruise on the Dawn this year was simply fantastic in comparison to this cruise. BTW - St. Thomas stop is now at a container port in Crown Bay Marina. Celebrity has signed a 10 year contract with this port which just began this year. They charge $4.00 pp to take you downtown for shopping or $7.00 pp to go to Havensight (the old cruise dock).

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

Loved the cabin. Large balcony was beyond excellent! With the door open, it can get a bit noisy from the bar below and the theater on deck 12 but once you close the door it is very silent and comfortable. You can feel a little more motion also but for us, it was wonderful. Best rest I have ever had on a cruise ship. If you want complete silence, I would certainly not recommend deck 11.
