Cruised the Sunshine out of Charleston on 11/6/16 to Nassau & Freeport. Worst embarkation EVER! Will never cruise out of Charleston again. But, despite the embarkation fiasco, it was an enjoyable cruise on the Sunshine.

We had an inside cabin, midship on Deck 7. Room was great, nice big shower, great location.

Things we loved about the Sunshine:

Cabin 4F

Cabin was spacious, enjoyed the large shower. Did miss some storage space with only 2 small closets and 3 drawers for clothing. Our room did have a refrigerator, which we were not expecting, so that was a nice surprise. And because the refrigerator was not crammed into a cabinet, it actually kept our drinks nice and cold!

Port Reviews

Charleston

Worst embarkation experience EVER and will never cruise out of Charleston again. Our cruise had delayed boarding due to a medical emergency on prior cruise.

This cruise was to depart Charleston at 10pm with boarding beginning at 3:30pm, however, due to the delay we could not board until 6:30pm. This is where it all fell apart.

We arrived at the port at 5pm and snaked our way through the maze to drop off luggage and park our car. Car was parked by 6pm and we boarded a shuttle to take us to the terminal. We were made to wait on the shuttle for almost 2 hours before we were finally dropped at the terminal. I felt for the people that decided to skip the shuttles and walk to the terminal, as they were made to wait outside the gates in the dark & cold for over 3 hours or so before they made it into the terminal.

Once the shuttles started moving and we finally made it to the terminal, we were made to wait to get through security as there were so many people inside the terminal waiting to check in that it was at capacity. Once we made it through security into the terminals, the lines did move pretty quickly, in all we were probably in line for about 40-45 minutes.

We were lucky, in that we arrived a bit early. The people that arrived after 6:30pm, they had very, very long waits to get checked in and there were many, many upset passengers.
