The Celebrity Equinox is a wonderful ship with many outstanding features. This Transatlantic cruise had a great itinerary and the ocean crossing portion was enhanced with some excellent entertainment and "Beyond the Podium" speakers. In particular, there were three superb entertainers -- Katie Clark. classical pianist, Jayne Curry, singer and comedienne and Hanna, classical violinist. Speakers David Fantle and Michael Fuller were excellent speakers and we hope to see them on future cruises..
Unfortunately, Celebrity's food offerings on this cruise were well below its usual high standards. The food in the Main Dining Room seemed unusually tasteless and the offerings were not nearly as good as on past cruises. We ate once in the Tuscan Grill and the food quality there was worse than the Main Dining Room and not at all like our previous visits to the Tuscan Grill.
Overall, I think Celebrity provides a great product at a reasonable price/
Our cabin was a Deluxe Veranda on Deck 8. This particular cabin was right opposite the mid-ship elevators and on the hump, an excellent location for a cabin. Veranda cabins on this ship are comfortable, quiet and roomy and the balcony is spacious and well appointed. The queen size bed was extremely comfortable. The only thing missing was electrical outlets at the bedside, but Celebrity provided us with an extension cord for my wife's medical equipment.
Our room service attendant was outstanding and we could not have had better service than we had on any other cruise line.
This is a great port because the ship docks so close to the main square in the city. Although Celebrity offers many tours here, we opted to visit without a tour.
This was our embarkation port and we toured on our own.
