Alaska Cruise [Explorer of the Sea]

This was the third time my wife & I sailed on the Explorer of the Sea cruise ship. It was the first time on a cruise to Alaska; the other times were an Eastern Caribbean and a Bermuda Cruise. We had also been on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure, Freedom & Independence of the Sea cruise ships. But unfortunately, this time around on the Explorer of the Sea cruise ship it did not feel up to par with the others we had taken.

First in the main dining room food selections went downhill. The everyday steak selection (Manhattan Steak) was horrible. It was almost like eating shoe leather. Then another night, my wife & I ordered the chef’s choice roast beef which was very chewy also and therefore we could not eat it. All our past Royal Caribbean cruises shrimp cocktail was on the menu every day. This time around it was not even listed at all one night. Even the selections in the Windjammer buffet on deck -11 went downhill. The variety at the buffet line is not like it uses to be. Thank god they have hamburgers every day. Overall, we were very disappointed in the food in general.
