We were interested in visiting the Canadian Maritimes and Acadia National Park, so we chose this cruise with Princess which was port intensive. We flew into Montreal, spent 3 nights and took the train to Quebec City on embarkation day. The train was a convenient and inexpensive option. There were many cruise passengers onboard and upon arrival there were not many taxis to get us to the port. It could be walked but with luggage and cold weather, the taxi was the best choice.
Embarkation was a disgrace. There were long winding lines outside and inside and no lines for preferred guests until you were past security and checking in. Much too late for most of us. It took well over an hour to get onboard.
We booked an obstructed oceanview guarantee and that is what we were assigned. The cabin was perfect for a cruise in colder weather. Our view was great because the top of the lifeboat was even with the bottom of the picture window. The stateroom was showing its age and after sailing on one of the newer ships, you do miss the amenities. My only caution with a forward, port side cabin, is the smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway. We believe it was coming from the casino below but not totally sure. Our cabin steward was superior.
