As a couple with some cruising experience, we did find the Solstice something of a mixed bag. Good Aqua class cabin and associated dining, great service from the stateroom attendants and numerous other staff around the ship. However, in certain areas there appeared to be a paucity of staff... Certain bars and poolside amenities. The staff there did try hard but under pressure. The lunchtime buffet dining experience left a lot to be desired. The quality of the food was inconsistent and occasionally poor. There was insufficient seating for all guests to have a comfortable experience.....something we did not experience on previous Celebrity cruises. The entertainment was variable...some of the guest entertainers would not have passed muster on other ships. A mixed bag. Certainly did not appreciate being deprived of some of the Aqua class benefits on embarkation and disembarkation. Concierge class passengers were accorded greater privileges. Similarly, the decision to curtail the available minutes on a purchased internet package on the final morning was frankly insulting since one might have been intending to use the facility to complete onward travel arrangements and personal contacts. Since the package is hardly cheap, this was totally unacceptable. The shore excursions offered by Celebrity certainly warrant close examination. Some of the experiences could be duplicated far more cheaply if one made one's own arrangements......I suspect that the fear of being left behind is what prompts passengers to take on overpriced option. Tendering can be time consuming but one can only expect it to be necessary with a ship of Solstice size attempting to take guests to certain ports.

Good but room for improvement
