Always wanted to go to the Caribbean, having sailed with P&O to the med on the Ventura we were looking forward to this trip, so myself and family (1 14 year old son, partner and father went) We sailed from Southampton, the crossing to Port Delgarda (Portugal) was very rough, it took 4 sailing days to get there. Porta Delgarda was a welcome piece of land!

It still was not hot. I think people were expecting Caribbean temperatures in Portugal in late October, it was around 17 degrees.

An unusual place. I rather liked it because it was different. It was very quiet with unusual large open spaces (squares) and a small waterfall/park. Not many shops, we went on an excursion at each port. This one was to see the fire lake mountains. It was very foggy but on a clear day I imagine breathtaking views!
