The cruise was to the Melbourne Cup. We had not been on the Pacific Dawn before and were a little apprehensive. However we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the ship is tired but it's due for a refit next year. This was our 10th cruise and we felt that the cabin was more comfortable than any other we have had. Certainly more spacious. The transfers to the cup were well organised. The food was a little disappointing but there was plenty to choose from. The ship could do with more areas to sit in as it was always difficult to find somewhere to just sit given that the ship was full. The crew were great and we appreciated that the captain kept us informed any time an alarm was sounded. There were 3 incidents where they called for first response teams but in each case he told us exactly what the call was for and what the outcome was. He also made an announcement any time the seas were going to be rough.

We particularly loved the entertainment director and his team. Willie Lee kept us laughing the entire cruise. The dancers and production shows were first class.

We would not hesitate in recommending a cruise on the Pacific Dawn.

Cabin Review

Cabin Ocean view obstructed

Our cabin had quite a good view despite it being an obstructed view cabin. It was spacious and comfortable.
