My wife's family wanted to have a weekend together to celebrate 2 birthdays. There were 19 of us total. We had sailed on 8 prior Carnival cruises, 2 Royal Caribbean, and 1 Norwegian. The Fantasy was my first and looks to be my last as well.
Started out fun with a smooth embarkation. First night was fun until we got to the dining room which was the late seating. With only 2 waiting on us and many other tables the service was terrible. Food courses were forgotten, food was cold, and it was impossible to find either waiter for beverage refills or any other help. Also no longer do you get a choice of breads. Now they just give you hard Cuban bread. The two fellas were awful nice but you could tell they were overwhelmed. This would happen all three nights. This was very disappointing to my wife and I as we always thought of all 3 big cruise lines Carnival had the best MDR food. I'm afraid to say no longer. Never saw my cabin attendant. Never happen before.
Second day was in port. Breakfast in the lido buffet was terrible. Long lines, awful eggs, constant missing food like fruit was frustrating. Ended up with half a bagel and some canned peaches. After breakfast we got together to explore Nassau. They decided to do a drill during debarkation closing one of the gangways. Good timing Carnival. Otherwise we had fun, until dinner of course. Same problems. Cold soup, missing entrees, and no chance of refills. My favorite dessert melting chocolate cake was cold as well. Menu was bad as well. Got a cheeseburger. Still no Cabin attendant sighting. Band was good before dinner.
