I will say upfront we have been on five cruises with Disney Cruise line through our vacation club membership. We decided to do an week on Royal due to the recommendations of others and the overall excellent ratings. It was sadly a disappointment. Getting on and off the boat was fine (we did bring our own luggage so no waiting) We had no major issues with the ship. Overall it was clean and in good repair. I noticed some stained and torn linen and some needed repairs to bathrooms, and other public areas but nothing major at all.

I will say getting on board was a letdown. You just enter through deck four near the elevators. No lobby or other grand entrance. (sorry but Disney brings you on into their main lobby and it's awesome!!) but no biggie....the cabin was clean and while small, it was better than we expected. (Not having any shampoo or lotions, etc however is weird--I mean, yeah, it's a cruise but even Holiday Inn has that stuff-- I was prepared with my own due to Cruise Critic)

The entertainment was excellent. In fact, I would rate it as comparable to Disney. The service was adequate. Some servers were wonderful--friendly, attentive, etc. Others must be coming to the end of their contract or have been doing this too long. They serve but like robots. Even the service in Chops (specialty dining) was perfunctory.

Cabin L

adequate. clean. felt there was enough space for two people. shower a bit tight but manageable. only bar soap and shampoo dispenser in room. bed mattress is ready for replacement. I was fine but hubby came home with achy back.
