First time Holland America. Smaller ship was refreshingly good with 1200 on board. Staff were very friendly and we were quickly on first name terms with many of them.
Ian, Manager of shore excursions, was a hoot. He should have his own comedy spot!
We found the HAL excursions to be expensive and so booked 3rd party trips which all went very well.
The show team were very professional and put on first class shows. Martin is the most polite man we have ever met.
Food quality was fine both in dining room and Lido restuarant. Choice might have been better.
Ship is getting on in age but has a delighful retro feel to it.
HAL is definately high on the list for future cruises and might be top if they undertood that the cost of Wifi on board is ridiculously high. Like most people we all scurried ashore whenever possible to find free Wifi.
In common with other cruise lines the drink prices are a joke. The full package for 2 weeks added another 30% to the cost of the cruise. Unlikely to book again unless we got a free or reduced rate package as is currently being offered by competitor cruise lines.
Not much to see except for shops and free wifi
