Only reasons we didn't give it 5-star treatment was the annoying upselling of meal and drinks packages. Also really shocked when we were told "your cabin grade doesn't entitle you to shower gel" just a piece of white soap. We did have a balcony! So find room for personal toiletries if you have delicate skin. We would still recommend the ship but warn that if you are a bit of a gourmet you had better save up to pay the extra in the special restaurants which were on the expensive side. Generally the basic food was more than adequate and the buffet choice and quality was particularly good. Even a choice of bacon or crispy bacon. Some confusion in evening restaurant when menu only offered starters and main course. Fortunately our table companions had been on the Eclpse before and we soon got the hang of ordering two starters (eg soup plus seafood etc) then the entree. The choice was quite limited but well cooked and presented. Desserts ok and you can always ask for extra cheese plate.Classic drinks package was generally excellent but do train you waiter to give you the wine you find most palatable. If you are feeling brave ask him to let you have a tasting on the first night, and then stick to the one you like best. He will soon get the idea. And they are really nice guys.
