The ports were extremely diverse sailing to Sicily, Mykonos, Santorini, Kusadasi, Athens, and the Amalfi Coast. Sicily was a modern port that we chose not to take an excursion to the older town as it seemed to focus only on shopping. Mykonos was a let down - it was said it's the South Beach of Greece. We live in South Florida and hate South Beach and Mykonos was quaint but nothing cool. Lots of high end shops and we decided we can skip in the future. Santorini is unique and quaint with little shops and restaurants that offer plenty to do. Kusadasi we took an excursion to the house of the virgin mary and Ephesus. Very glad we did the tour - but choose the one without lunch, we could have had the same food on board without paying extra. Athens we did the Parthenon and it was very nice. We opted out of the shopping because why pay extra - but you should because the boat is far away. Amalfi coast we went to Pompeii and it wasn't enough time in the tour. I wish we did a tour and then had time on our own to explore.

The boat was clean and very nice with some exceptional service and some standard service. Our room attendant was never seen but the room was always made up and clean. The balcony room was always hot no matter how low we turned the AC. Bed was firm and pillows flat. We didn't use the balcony as much as we though we would. I've had interior rooms, ocean view rooms, promenade (on other vessels) and we found it hard to justify the cost of the balcony. Staying with a balcony on our upcoming Alaska but switching back to interior for Middle east and India cruise.

On board activities were a bit lacking and I don't know if that was due to the lack of engagement from passengers or if it was because it was geared towards an older crowd. But, we never found our "place" to hang out and be entertained like we can in the Caribbean.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We did Rome on our own before a cruise. I absolutely love Rome. Not my first time but it was my husband's. Paid for our own private transfer to the port shared with someone we met in our hotel. It was a long drive, but smooth once we got to the port and we were on board within minutes! Better than any boarding in Miami or Ft Lauderdale.

Taormina (Messina)

We walked Messina and saw the church. Boring town, but we planned on staying on board to relax after the craziness of Rome - so that worked fine.

Mykonos

What a let down. The city is small and looks quaint and pretty but it's all high end shops and lacks personality. Not worth the stop - find a cruise with Santorini instead.

Santorini

Awesome views. Quaint but packed with personality. I could vacation here for a week!
