My husband and I have taken several cruises previously, however this was our first Holland America cruise. The Koningsdam was a beautiful ship with very attractive common areas. Our balcony stateroom was very well designed with a significant amount of storage. The bathroom was efficiently designed and the toilet position did not present a problem for my husband who is over 6'. Dinner in the main dining room was of a high standard. We really enjoyed Tamarind and actually ate there twice during our cruise. The Culinary Arts Center was a great night and the food was amazing. We really enjoyed our evening. The Dutch Cafe was also a very tasty and often visited venue.
Our main disappointment was the lack of diversity in entertainment options in the evening. If you are not into watching music every evening there wasn't much else to do. The gym was very well equipped and clean.
Embarking and disembarking was smooth and all staff we encountered were very professional and attentive.
Nice decor. Well designed. Great storage. Plenty of power outlets.
Nothing really remarkable here.
Took the train to Herculaneum and Pompeii. Very simple to do and accomplish in one day. Both sites are very interesting and easy to get to from the local commuter train.
We took the train to the port from Rome and back again. It was very easy to do.
