We just returned from the Pride of America 7 night cruise around Hawaii. In a nutshell for those who don't want to read details, we really enjoyed the cruise and felt it was a great way to see several Hawaiian islands easily. If/when we return to Hawaii, we would pick 1 or 2 and stay on land and explore in more depth. P.S. we found the ship to be far better than expected from reading many past reviews.
We flew into Honolulu 2 days early both to adjust to the time change (6 hours) and do some exploring. We decided to leave Pearl Harbor for disembarkation day as it fit well with our return flight. This was a good decision for us.
Embarkation was a breeze. No lines, no wait, just straight on. We embarked around 3 PM and explored the ship until our luggage arrived in the stateroom. Others have talked about the small staterooms and even smaller bathrooms and this is true. But we were able to fit everything into nooks and crannies here and there and it all worked out. These may not be the most luxurious staterooms (this is only our second ocean cruise), but it was clean and decently organized. We were in a balcony stateroom on deck 10. We were disappointed that between the walls that separate balconies from each other along with the overhang from the pool deck directly above, the line of vision was rather limited. I think deck 8 or 9 would have better views.
